3 of the Most Common HVAC Issues

Mar 8, 2021

Warm weather is here to stay, so if you haven’t fired up your air conditioner yet this year, there’s an excellent chance that time will be coming very soon! Of course, our HVAC systems don’t always work the way we’d hope when we boot them up after long periods with minimal use. Here are the most common HVAC issues we run into this time of year.

Clogged Air Filters

If you can’t remember the last time you changed your air filters and you’re experiencing HVAC difficulties, there’s a very high chance that an air filter replacement will improve the situation significantly. When clogged with dust and dirt, our filter keeps our heating and cooling systems from functioning at peak capacity. Additionally, a clogged filter can reduce the overall lifespan of other HVAC parts. As such, it’s the perfect time for a filter replacement! As an added bonus, the air quality of your home will likely improve after the replacement.

Thermostat Issues

Every now and then, our thermostats can malfunction and prevent our HVAC systems from functioning properly. Most often, low batteries are the main issue we run into here and a replacement takes care of everything. If a battery replacement doesn’t fix your thermostat, it may be time to look for an upgrade. Luckily, new thermostats are fantastic, and you don’t have to break the bank for feature-packed options.

Low Refrigerant Levels

Refrigerant is a substance specifically designed to work in tandem with our HVAC systems to removed heat and humidity from our homes. When our refrigerant lines leak, HVAC issues are sure to start arising right away. Simply replacing the refrigerant isn’t advisable because it will just continue to leak out once again. Instead, you should be sure to count on a professional to find and repair the leaks. After that, your home will be all set for a cool summer!
