Daylight savings is finally here, and warm weather is sure to follow shortly as well. It’s time to make sure our HVAC systems are ready for spring! We have some advice on what HVAC maintenance you should take care of before spring.
Schedule Routine Maintenance
Completing standard routine maintenance is the best way to make sure you don’t have any untimely breakdowns down the road in the heat of the summer. You’re going to be using your air conditioning a lot in the coming months, so trust an expert to take a comprehensive look at your HVAC system and ensure it is up for the challenge. A bonus of keeping your system operating at peak capacity is the lowered energy bills that you’ll receive as a result.
Replace Your Air Filter
You won’t need a professional for this next tip, although we’re happy to take care of it on our next visit! Replacing your air filter every three months is a great way to ensure you’re getting the most out of your HVAC system. Consider setting up a calendar reminder to clean/ replace it because it is worth the upkeep to maximize your chances of filtering out dust and debris from the air you breathe.
Optimize Your Thermostat
Do you have a programmable thermostat? If so, we highly recommend upgrading to one or even springing for a smart thermostat. According to the US Department of Energy, you can save as much as 10% a year on your air conditioning bills by simply adjusting your thermostat 7°-10°F from its typical setting for at least 8 hours a day. If you are no longer working from home, we highly recommend configuring your thermostats as such. With a smart thermostat, you can do that right from your phone!
